Let’s Have a Cocktail Party!

I am convinced there is no better way to shake off the stress and humdrum routine of daily life than by rallying a couple of your best girlfriends, scaring up some scrumptious snacks and mixing up a delicious cocktail or two. Or bottle of wine….each…whatever.

This weekend I plan to do just that.

It would be fun to say this girls night was going to be a stylish and glamorous affair with a very chic mood like so:

Yeah, not so much.

If only my life were so glamorous. Any elegant thoughts we might have been entertaining went out the window when the host informed us that “FYI, I’m going to already be in my pajamas when you get here”. Which is exactly why I love this girl. Because that is exactly the kind of night I was hoping for since I’d planned to show up in yoga pants.

The plan is to destress through eating our faces off, a bit of good old fashioned boozing and laughing till it hurts. I can’t wait!

I’m making this incredibly easy and insanely delicious sangria.

It’s also super dangerous. You forget there’s actual alcohol in it until it’s too late. I warned you.

I’m also toying with the idea of making Italian Greyhounds. Anything with fresh grapefruit juice immediately gets my attention. Combine it with rosemary sugar? Done and done! Sounds delicious, refreshing and looks gorgeous!

I still harbor dreams of hosting a swanky shindig and if I did I’d probably serve some pretty little platters of yummy things. Here are just a few I’m dying to make.

1. Roast Beef Crostini with Horseradish Cream and Arugula

2. Pistachio and Chive Goat Cheese on Puff Pastry Wafers

3. Ham and Gruyere Thumbprints

4. Bruschetta Duet

5. Chocolate Apricot Almonds

And because any good cocktail party needs a seriously stocked bar. I think something along these lines would be fabulous.

A bar cart like that ought to take care of just about everybody don’t you think?

One day I’ll host the cocktail party of my dreams. And the next morning I’ll probably swear off ever hosting them again. ha! Until then I’m going to enjoy an unfussy night of cocktails and stretchy pants. What could be better?

I hope you have some fun things planned for your weekend! Enjoy!

P.S. If you live in the Phoenix area and love pretty vintage-y things, get yourself to Sweet Salvage this weekend!
